Why Short RPGs Just Work Better On Phones
Playing Emberfall Saga got me thinking about how badly most big RPGs fit a phone. The grand ones assume you'll sit for hours, memorize menus and come back tomorrow. On a touchscreen, between stops, that's a tough ask.
A short RPG solves this by respecting the format. Battles end quickly. Autosave means a surprise interruption doesn't cost you anything. The story moves fast enough that you remember where you were even after a few days away.
There's a craft to writing something tight. Every skill has to matter because there aren't fifty of them. Every character gets room because the cast is small. You feel the designers made choices instead of piling on content.
If you've bounced off mobile RPGs before, try one that knows when to stop. You might find you actually finish it.
