About

Pocket Lagoon started as a group chat where a few of us kept throwing links at each other: little games nobody was talking about, made by one or two people, often buried under the big releases. At some point we figured the notes were worth cleaning up and sharing.

The idea is simple. We actually play the things before we write about them. No copy-paste store descriptions, no scores pulled out of thin air. If a game runs badly on an older phone, we'll say so. If a control scheme fights us for twenty minutes, that goes in too.,We pick games by hand. Sometimes it's a recommendation from a reader, sometimes it's something that caught our eye in a jam showcase, sometimes it's just a weird icon that made us curious. We lean toward indie work because that's where the surprises live, and we try to cover every genre instead of drowning in puzzle games.,Nobody here is a full-time critic. We have day jobs and we play on buses, couches and lunch breaks, which honestly is how most mobile games get played anyway. That's the lens we write from.

Marta Nowak — Marta has been reviewing mobile games for the better part of a decade and still gets genuinely excited about a clean menu screen. She runs the editorial side and plays far too much on her commute.
