Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.7
Hollow Lantern is a mood piece as much as a game. You wander a misty village, tap to move and examine things, and slowly piece together what happened to the people who used to live there. There's no combat and no fail state, just curiosity pulling you from one room to the next.
The puzzles are gentle and logical, usually a matter of noticing something you walked past earlier. We appreciated that it never hides its hints behind obtuse logic. The hand-painted backgrounds and the soft, sparse music make it a lovely thing to play with headphones at night.
It's short, maybe three hours, and some will want more to chew on. We just wanted to stay in its world a little longer.
